AI text receptionist · Starter & Pro
When customers text your business number, the AI receptionist replies in seconds, around the clock or only after hours. It answers from your services and pricing, collects the job details, creates a request for you to confirm, and hands the conversation to you when a person is needed. It handles texts only, not phone calls.
AI text receptionist
Choose Always, or Only outside business hours. It always says it's an automated assistant.
Price estimates come only from your pricing rules, and every dollar amount is checked before it's sent.
Name, address, job details and preferred time, then it creates a booking request for your team to confirm. It never promises an appointment time.
When someone asks for a person, is upset, asks something it can't answer or wants a service you don't list, it hands over, pauses on that conversation and alerts you.
Gas, carbon monoxide, fire or smoke, sparking wires, flooding, no heat with vulnerable people: it sends fixed safety guidance and alerts you urgently, even after hours.
Callers who reach voicemail get a text back, and when they reply, the receptionist picks up the conversation.
Step by step
Pick a local Canadian number in Settings → Phone & Text. It's included with Starter and Pro.
In the AI text receptionist card, switch it on and choose when it replies.
It already knows your services, booking link and hours. Add up to 600 characters of extra instructions.
Run a test conversation from Settings before real customers text in.
Safety
Reply yourself and it pauses on that conversation for 24 hours.
It stops after 8 replies in a conversation and has a daily cap, so a long thread always ends up with a person.
It doesn't answer voice calls. Calls ring in the CRM, then go to voicemail.
Questions

It collects the details and creates a booking request for your team to confirm. It never confirms an appointment time itself.
It pauses on that conversation for 24 hours. When it hands a conversation to you, it pauses for 7 days and alerts you.
For emergencies like a gas smell, carbon monoxide, fire, sparking wires or flooding, it sends fixed safety guidance, such as leaving and calling 911 or the gas utility, alerts you by email and text, and hands the conversation to you, even outside reply hours or past limits.
